The Public Library of Javea will hold an exhibition from 17th to 29th January to celebrate the birth of Enric Valor.
Enric Valor, an eminent citizen from Castalla -town in the province of Alicante- worked for a short period of his life in the shoes industry, which is historically a very strong sector and economy booster in the region. Back in 1930, Valor started a prolific cultural and literary career as a journalist in an Alicante newspaper.
After surviving the Spanish Civil War, Enric Valor strongly defended the use of the Valencian language –illegalized by Franco dictatorship regime- even belonging to the republican side and being chasing down for his ideas. Until the day he died, in 2000, Enric was a tenacious defender of his cultural, linguistic and political ideas.
The relevance of his work was valued for many. Even his inclusion on lists of candidates to the Nobel Prize was discussed.
Among the literary legacies Valor left to the Region of Valencia, there are the many streets and squares named after him, the Enric Valor prize that recognizes young literature and a prolific catalogue of works, including novels and rondallas.
The exhibition will be open every morning from 09:00 h to 14:00 h and afternoons, from 16:00 h to 20:00 h.
