To hike up the Montgo Mountain is always a nice plan for anyone who enjoys outdoors activities. The best autumn paths to reach the top of the mountain are:
Cabo San Antonio route: 1.5 km. Estimated time: 30 minutes. The irregularities of the terrain make this route unsuitable to climb it on a bycicle.
This route starts in the viewpoint at the end of the Cabo San Antonio road, 100 metres before arriving to the lighthouse. From here, there is a path that goes a way down to Tango cove, next to the Javea harbour.
The path is sprinkled with pine trees and bushes of great diversity.
The route is short and safe, except for some slippery stretches where precaution is advised.
Les Planes route: 4.5 km. Estimated time: 1 hour, 30 minutes. Flat terrain, good for bicycles.
This route starts in the picnic area at the end of the Cabo San Antonio road, 700 metres before arriving to the lighthouse, to the left. We will find a parking lot by the road. The area is well equipped with picnic benches and tables under the trees. There are drinking water and toilets available for visitors. This is the starting point of this route leading to a path surrounded by pine trees and flowers that bloom in autumn.
La Cova de l’Aigua and El Raco del Bou route: 3.5 km. Estimated time: 3 hours. 30 minutes. Not suitable to climb with a bicycle.
The starting point is the hermitage chapel built in the seventies, by the Pare Pere hut (XVII century). This place is filled with history and has a beautiful representation of typical Valencia tradition and arts: the Franciscan Father Pere, made on ceramic. The path of the colony starts a few metres away. There is a chain that prohibits the access of motorized vehicles and marks the start of our hiking route up.
The path meanders all the way across an abandoned agricultural colony that ages ago devoted to the growing of Moscatel grapes. The area has been affected by many fires that have left their marks.
