Trekking routes in Montgo Nature Park

The first trimester of 2011 brings didactic excursions to Montgo Nature Park: Free routes and hiking guided tours. They come in different difficulty levels and are open to anyone who wishes to join them. These tours are part of the Conoce el Montgo –get to know the Montgo- program.

- Iberian settlements in Montgo: Route from the Xara train halt: This path goes through and highlights the Iberian settlements of Alto de Benimaquia, Coll de Pous and Pic del l’Aguila. This tour is programmed for 30th January. It is considered as a medium difficult route, is 9 km long and takes 3:30 hours to complete.

- Jesús Pobre – Barranc de L’hedra- Denia Cross: The group will arrive to the cross of Denia via “barranc de l’hedra” -gully of ivy- and will return via the relay station. This tour is programmed for 27^th September 2011. It takes about 6 hours to complete this high-difficulty 14 km route.

- Umbria del Montgo: This route starts in the Pare Pere hermitage chapel, going up Cova de l’Aigua and Raco del Bou, along the shady side of the park. There are two programmed dates: one is 27^th March 2011. The other is 29^th May 2011; It takes 3 hours and 10 km to complete it. This is a medium difficulty route.

- From the harbour of Denia to the harbour of Xabia: From “rotes de Denia” to the harbour of Javea, across the plains of Cabo de San Antonio and many viewpoints, such as Torre de Gerro, Molins and the picnic area. You can choose to return to the harbour of Denia by boat. This tour is programmed for 26th January 2011. It is considered as a medium difficult route, is 8.5 km long and takes approximately 4:30 hours to complete.

The tours are limited to 20 people. Please note that it is important to be physically fit and have the adequate equipment to take part in the hiking tours. Being it an outdoors activity, the Montgo Nature Park organising team has reserved the right to change the schedules or cancel the tours if weather conditions are not suitable for the correct and safe performance of the activity.
