The AVE Valencia Madrid high speed train was a very good means of linking these two regions.

Since the service started, thousands have travelled to do business in Madrid or come down to Valencia and enjoy the wide range of leisurely activities awaiting them, such as the Fallas, events such as the Tennis Open 500, the beaches at Costa Blanca and the good weather with the summer breeze.

Now, the Public Works Council brings excellent news:

From this month of June, not only Valencia is closer to Madrid in terms of time and money, but also the towns in the Marina Alta region, in the northern area of Alicante province. This means, Dénia, Jávea and the neighbouring towns.

While the building works to link Madrid and Alicante in 2012 are still in progress, Alsa will be in charge of offering the service of express buses to connect Dénia and the train station in Valencia. From this train station, users will be able to take the AVE train to Madrid.

This does not mean that the Town Halls in Costa Blanca have relaxed in their search to achieve the train route linking Gandía and Dénia. In fact, the involved town halls continue joining forces to provide this region with everyday more and more transportation options and connections.

With this initiative, the time invested to go from Madrid to Dénia is shortened to 3 ½ hours, for a very competitive price: From € 49, which is the addition of the price of the bus + the most discounted train ticket to Madrid.

The departures schedule from the Dénia station in working days is 07:15 h, 14:15 h and 17:15 h. On weekends, it is only Sundays at 18:00 h.

From Sorolla station in Valencia, the AVE departures to Madrid are weekdays at 10:35 h, 18:35 h and 21:35 h. Saturday, it is at 11:35 h and 21:35 h, while on Sundays it is at 22:50 h.

Cap Sant Antoni is located between Jávea and Dénia, in Montgó Nature Park. This spectacular cliff was recognised as a protected area in 1993.

The restrictions in motor boating and relentless tourist exploitation since 1993 have resulted in a rapid regeneration of flora and fauna. Nowadays, this hidden spot boasts lush marine vegetation and fauna, including posidonias, octopuses and gilt-head breams. The San Antoni cape is 20 m deep.

From the top of the cliff -about 150 metres above sea level- you can have fantastic views of Ibiza and the Valencia Gulf. The lighthouse is a reminder of the times when the cape was a viewpoint to spot pirates. This place also housed a hermitage that gave Sant Antoni its name.

During October and November there will be some free guided treks to the cape and its surrounding areas. For details on these excursions, click here.

The bay is only accesible by boat. However, not all boats can access this area. They need to comply with specific regulations and must hold an special permit. Scuba divers need a permit, too. It can be obtained in the Tourist Offices in Jávea. We strongly recommend you to contact an specialized scuba diving company. They will arrange everything for you. Tourist offices in Jávea and Denia have further information on the operating companies in the area.

In the town of Denia (Alicante) Fallas are a tradition, from the 16th to the 19th of March a total of 11 committees plus the Local Fallera Board will fill the town with monuments.

One of the most spectacular parts of the Fallas in Denia are the firework displays and the mascletaes , although one of the most popular events is the offering to the Virgen de los Desamparados, many visitors who come are fascinated by the typical costumes.

Another positive point of the Denia Fallas is that you can comfortably walk around all the Fallas monuments, and the atmosphere on the streets makes it very pleasant.

Currently there are 12 Fallas in Denia; there is the Centre one, Les Roques, Mar Baix, Oeste, Port-Rotes, Saladar, Diana, Paris-Pedrera, Darrere del Castell, Campaments, Camp Roig and the Falla of the Local Falla Board.

If you have not ever been to the “fallas”, you have the opportunity to do so these holidays in Denia.

Be sure not to miss the most spectacular event of all , which involves the burning of these huge monuments on the eve of March 19th 2010 at 24.00.
